About Us

After leaving school in 1974 I immediately began an Electrical Apprenticeship at the Midlands Electricity Board. This was a four year apprenticeship which I completed with the qualification of Technician Electrician, in those days there were three grades, Electrician, Approved Electrician and Technician Electrician and the City & Guilds qualifications were A, B & C respectively. The following years I gained further skills and  qualifications which included City & Guilds Basic Electronics.

Keen to further my skills and abilities I threw my hand up at the offer of any training course available to me. These included plumbing so I could install showers etc. I also joined a small team with three others to remove asbestos. This included dressing up almost like a spaceman complete with forced filtered positive pressure air mask and suit. It was known as one of the ‘Jobs For Life’ at the MEB and things were great until privatisation in the early 90’s then things did not go to plan. Having taken redundancy I started up working for myself and pretty much anything I was capable of doing. This continued for some years. I later joined an electrical maintenance company working form home but travelling central England. To be specific this covered anywhere from just north of London (M25) reaching the width of the country and almost to the Scottish border. This at times was fun, like a four hour journey to Haverfordwest in Wales, ten minutes to change a lamp holder in a wall light in a pub then drive back. Not so good when working in Blackpool most of the day and getting almost home at 5pm to be told “ as I am on call, go to the Pizza Hut in Manchester to change a light bulb in the salad bar” which on a Friday at 5pm is not fun. In 2002 I worked at a Birmingham based electrical contractor and I ended up spending a lot of my time working at the Heartlands Hospital and was involved in the re-design and installation of the fire alarm system working alongside the clerk of works for the hospital. Having realised they never recognised non-JIB registered electricians I was only employed and paid as an electrician, not approved or technician but I was doing the technician’s job and was responsible for several men working under me but on higher wages. I soon left and returned working for myself again. This continued for some years until I found a job that offered something that looked good. More opportunities to add skills and at an employers expense. I brought a fair bit to the company and got a fair bit from the company. My background skills helped the company go further into the fields in which they wanted to spread into. Yes, I am blowing my own trumpet again, but why not. There is no one else out there that does it for you so now at the grand age of 64 its about time I started showing everyone how good I am. For the last two years I have been delivering parcels and it is only recently that I have returned to offering my services in this new adventure, never shy of a hard days graft.

In the past I gained many friends and valued customers and was trusted to the highest level. One of the things I always said to my customers is that they never paid for work until it was done and they were satisfied. It is only in certain contracts that stage payments are required.
